DECEMBER 8, 2005 MEETING MINUTES

 The meeting was convened at 6:30 pm on Thursday, December 8, 2005, at the Pohai Nani Lanai.

1.  Attendance:  Federation Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, and Festival Registrar.  The following clubs were represented:  Square Wheelers, Pali Twirlers, and Hayseeds. 

2.  Minutes:  The Chairman asked for additions or corrections to the minutes of the October 22, 2005 meeting.  There being no corrections, the minutes were approved as presented.

3.  Treasurer’s Report:    The net balance in the account as of 12/5/2005 was $10,488.01.

4.  Committee Reports:

            State Festival – Henry Staehle reported that there are 77 registered dancers.  Letter of Agreement were sent to the callers and cuers on December 7.  We are still waiting for final approval of the Palladium permits from the City and County.  Janet Granich agreed to coordinate the decorating of the halls.

            USA West – No report.

5.  Correspondence: We received correspondence from the 55th National SDC asking the Hawaii group to participate in the Showcase of Ideas display.  Dave Lemon asked for volunteers to coordinate the NSDC Table Display and contact  the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau for materials that can be handed out at the booth.

6.  Old Business:  none

7.  New Business:  Buster Forbes made a motion that the Federation provide complimentary registration to the Festival Chairperson and his or her partner beginning with the 2007 festival.  The motion was seconded and passed. 

Dave Lemon asked the board to continue to look for a new Federation Chairman as he will not be able to serve after the end of this fiscal year.  He also asked the board to search for an individual that will take responsibility as Web Master; for the Hot Line recording, and the Coming Events publications.

8.  Club Reports:

Square Wheelers – The Blue Team graduates on December 10.  Dancing continues on December 17.  There will be Community Dance at Manana Community Park in Pearl City on January 7, 14, and 21st.  It will be a basic dance and all dancers are asked to dress in casual attire.

The club will be dark on December 25th and January 1.  The regular dance will resume on January 8.  Brian Hotchkies from Australia will be the featured caller at the dance on January 22.

Dedicated round dance workshops will be held at the Palladium on the 2nd Saturday of every month from 1 to 4 pm.  The workshops will begin in February and go through June.

Pali Twirlers – The club will host a Christmas dinner and dance at Pohai Nani on December 22.

 The club will host the luau for the upcoming Festival.

 9.  The next Federation meeting is scheduled to be held on January 28th at the Palladium in conjunction with the Aloha State Festival.

10.  The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 pm.
