FEBRUARY 17, 2005 MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was convened at 6:30 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2005, at the
Pohai Nani Solarium.

1.  Attendance:  Federation Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Festival Registrar.  The following clubs were represented:  Square Wheelers, Pali Twirlers, Tsunamis and Hayseeds. 

2.  Minutes:  The Chairman asked for additions or corrections to the minutes of the January 9, 2005 meeting.  The minutes were approved as stated. 

3.  Treasurer’s Report:    The Treasurer reported that the balance on hand as of January 31, 2005 was $7,835.79.  The Treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.

4.  Committee Reports:

            State Festival –  Buster Forbes, Chairman of the 2005 Festival, gave his final report.  There were 236 registered dancers, including one tour group from Washington State.  The Festival generated income of $11,090 and had related expenses of $8,013.39.  It was a successful event and Buster was thanked for his leadership.  The square dance clubs are reminded to send in their festival related rebates.

            USA West Hawaii – To date, there are 129 registered dancers.  Advertising has been placed in the National Square Dance Directory.  A USA West Policy Board meeting will be held in Hawaii on March 5 and will be followed by a Kick Off Dance to be held at McCoy Pavillion.  The dance will be free for registered dancers and all other dancers will be asked to make a $5 donation at the door.

            41st Hawaii State Festival 2006 – The Festival will be held at the Ala Wai Palladium on January 24-29, 2006.  Dave Lemon volunteered to chair the event.  All square dance clubs should contact Dave in March to make their commitment for hosting festival events.

5.  Correspondence:  Northfield Insurance Company was paid $961.27 for the Federation’s annual insurance renewal premium.

6.  Old Business:  none

7.   New Business:  Federation dues for 2005 are $10 per club member as of February 2005.  Clubs that have not already sent in their dues are requested to do so as soon as possible.

9.  The next Federation meeting will be scheduled as needed by the Chairman
