JUNE 20, 2004 MEETING MINUTES

 The meeting was convened at 6:09 pm on Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the
Ala Wai Palladium Ballroom.

 1.   Attendance:  Federation Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Secretary.  The following clubs were represented:  Square Wheelers, Pali Twirlers, Tsunamis and Hayseeds.

 2.  Minutes:  The Chairman asked for additions or corrections to the minutes of the March 21, 2004 meeting.  There being none, the minutes were accepted as submitted.

 3.  Treasurer’s Report:  The Treasurer’s report was distributed for review.  The opening balance as of 3/21/04 was $5,592.33. The balance as of 6/15/04 was $6,182.39.  The Treasurer’s report was accepted as submitted.

 4.  Committee Reports:

            Hawaii State Festival 2005

·        Registrar Henry Staehle reported that there are 17 dancers registered for the January 2005 Festival.   

·        Chairman Buster Forbes reported that callers and cuers have been confirmed as follows:

Callers – Jack Pladdys, Daniel Preedy and Jerry Quam

Cuers – Bill and Linda Maisch

David Lemon will represent the Hawaii Federation as Chairman of Showcase at the National Convention in Denver.

 5.  Correspondence: 

·        The Maui Mixers will be dark at least until July 14 and possibly longer.

·        The High Hopes square dance club on Maui will be going dark for the months of June, July and August.  The club will have their next dance on Labor Day, September 6.  The dance will also include a pot luck dinner.

·        The Maui dancers have decided that they will NOT host a Maui No Ka Oi Dance in 2005.

 6.  Old Business:  None

 7.  New Business: 

·        Federation Picnic has been set for Sunday, August 15^th at Bellows AFB.  No Saturday dates were available at Bellows Beach Park.  Alternatives dates and sites are being explored.

·        An ad will be placed in the National Square Dance Directory advertising our 2006 Festival.

 8.  Club Reports:

a.      Square Wheelers and Hayseeds – The clubs will be having a theme night once a month.  The July 18 dance will have a Mad Hatter theme.  The clubs will be dark on June 27^th and July 4^th.  Round dance class will resume on July 11.

b.      Pali Twirlers –All dancers are invited to an ice cream social on June 24.  The Pali Twirlers will be dancing in the annual Kailua parade on July 3.

c.      Tsunamis – No report

 9.  The next Federation meeting is scheduled to be held on July 25, 2004 at 6:00 pm.

 10.  The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm.
