MARCH 21, 2004 MEETING MINUTES

The meeting was convened at 6:07 pm on Sunday, March 21, 2004, at the
Ala Wai Palladium Ballroom.

1.  Attendance:  Federation Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary.  The following clubs were represented:  Square Wheelers and Hayseeds.

2.  Minutes:  The Chairman asked for additions or corrections to the minutes of the February 29, 2004 meeting.  There being none, the minutes were accepted as submitted.

3.  Treasurer’s Report:  The Treasurer’s report was distributed for review.  The opening balance as of 2/29/04 was $5,397.80.  Income for the month was $224.00 and expenses were $29.47.  The balance as of 3/21/04 is $5,592.33.  The Treasurer’s report was accepted as submitted.

4.  Committee Reports:

            None

5.  Correspondence:  Buster Forbes sent a letter to all clubs asking them to respond with the name of their Federation club representative for 2004.  He received confirmation from the following clubs:

            Square Wheelers – David Lemon

            Hayseeds – Kim Akagi

            Pali Twirlers – Janet Granich

            Tsunami – Tim Voss

            Maui Mixers – Steve Strong

            Paradise Promenaders – Cindy Weeks

Pali Twirlers will sponsor a luau on Tuesday January 25, 2005 as part of the State Festival.  Square Wheelers & Hayseeds have agreed to again host the Wednesday, January 26, 2005 Trail-In Dance, and the Sunday night, January 30, 2005 Trail-out Dance. Tsunami will sponsor a Whale Watching Cruise Sunday morning , January 30, 2005.

6.  Old Business:  Buster Forbes has agreed to serve as the Chairman for the 40th Aloha Festival.

7.  New Business

a.  A discussion was held regarding locating and making contact with callers and cuers for the 40th Aloha Festival.  The board reviewed the suggestions made via the 39th Festival evaluation forms and other nominations that had been submitted by various club members.

8.  Club Reports:

a.  Square Wheelers and Hayseeds – Dave Lemon reported that there are two square dance  classes taking place at the Ala Wai on Wednesday evenings.  The “senior” class takes place from 6:30 to 8:00 and the “freshman” class is held from 8:00 to 9:30.  The Sunday dance will be “dark” on April 11.  Classes will continue in 10-week increments.

      b.  Pali Twirlers –No report

      c.  Tsunamis – No report

9.  The next Federation meeting is scheduled to be held on April 25, 2004 at 6:00 pm.

10.  The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm.
