1. Attendance: Federation
Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Festival Registrar. The
following clubs were represented: Square Wheelers, Pali
Twirlers, and Hayseeds. Keith "Shorty" Long was
welcomed as the new Vice Chairman.
2. Minutes: The Chairman asked
for additions or corrections to the minutes of the
August 29, 2004 meeting. The minutes were amended under
Club Reports, USA West report, the first sentence should
read: "Dave Lemon drafted and Buster Forbes sent a
Federation letter to the ....." . There being no
further corrections, the minutes were approved as
amended.
3. Treasurer's Report: No
report.
4. Committee Reports:
State Festival: Henry
Staehle reported that there are 27 registered dancers;
23 from Oahu and 4 from the Mainland. He has had a
number of inquiries from Mainland dancers, both by email
and telephone but no further registrations to date.
Buster Forbes, the Festival Chair,
reported that he has placed Festival ads in the New
Zealand Kiwi Magazine and in the American Square Dance
Magazine. He also reported that the letters of
agreement for the Callers and Cuers were sent out a
couple of weeks ago. Flyers were sent to the Callers
and Cuers for distribution.

7. New Business:
New requirements for the
Royal Aloha Medallion were proposed. They are:

Be a member in good standing of a
Hawaii square dance club |
 |
Attend two Hawaii state festivals in
a three year period, and |
 |
Attend two dances on a neighbor
Hawaiian island (an island other than that of your
personal residence) during the same three year
period |
The qualification may be self-certified
and the cost of the medallion is $2 per dancer.
The new requirements were approved and a
new application form is available for distribution.
8. Club Reports:
USA West: None
Square Wheelers: The club will be
"dark" on October 31 so that dancers may participate in
the Pali Twirlers Halloween Dance.
Lava Klinkers: The club will host
the Hot Foot Stomp dance the weekend of October 22 - 24
on the Big Island.
Pali Twirlers: The club will host
a Halloween Party Dance on Sunday, October 31st
at the Ala Wai Palladium. All square dancers are
invited. Costumes are welcome, but optional. Pumpkin
pie and other treats will be part of the festivities.
9. The next Federation meeting is
scheduled to be held on October 23, 2004 on the Big
Island at the Hot Foot Stomp.
